Global Criminalisation Scan

Global Criminalisation Scan (developed by GNP+ and Regional Networks of PLHIV) – documents existing legislation on criminalisation of HIV transmission and cases when the laws have been used to criminalise persons with HIV. Furthermore, the Global Criminalisation Scan will support the development of appropriate advocacy and actions to respond to current legislature.

The aims of the Global Criminalisation Scan are:

• To collect and keep up-to-date information on national or state laws used in prosecution cases of HIV exposure or transmission;
• To track the rates of HIV exposure and transmission prosecution/convictions in countries around the world;
• To provide an easily accessible ‘clearing-house’ of resources, research, and initiatives on the subject.

This will form a platform for advocacy initiatives.
