MANET+ announces LTA with national media coverage

The HIV Leadership through Accountability (LTA) Programme primarily aims at generating evidence on the barriers to Universal Access to prevention, treatment, care and support for people living with HIV and AIDS. It is from this evidence where we will be able to make necessary recommendation on how to remove these barriers,” Safari Mbewe, the executive of the Malawi Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (MANET+) was quoted as saying in The Nation (one of Malawi’s major newspapers), during a news conference that MANET+ held in Blantyre on October 31st, 2011 to announce the launch of the LTA programme in Malawi — and spread a constructive message about the network’s evidence-based advocacy.

Human Rights Count! in Cameroon

It can be a very powerful tool for advocacy when people living with HIV can document human rights violations that they experience in their own communities – particularly when they don’t shy away from what some may see as sensitive topics, like the experiences of HIV-positive men who have sex with men, according to Calorine Kenkem of Le Réseau Camerounais des Associations de Personnes Vivants avec le VIH (the Cameroonian Network of Associations of People Living with HIV) or RéCAP+. She was speaking at the 3rd HIV Leadership through Accountability (LTA) Planning and Review Meeting, held this July in Nairobi, Kenya.

The League implements the SRHR Guidance Package in Moldova

“So what makes the Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Guidance Package tool different from the rest, is that the other four come with user guides and questionnaires, but in this study you need to develop a questionnaire and methodology for the specific group that you choose to be the subject for the study,” said Ludmila Untura, from the League of PLHIV in Moldova, at the HIV Leadership through Accountability (LTA) Planning and Review Meeting, held in July 2011 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Helping Interviewers Understand Human Rights Violations in Cameroon

A presentation on the implementation of the Human Rights Count! tool in Cameroonby Calorine Kenkem of RéCAP, one of the many francophone contributors at the HIV Leadership through Accountability (LTA) Planning and Review Meeting, held this July in Nairobi, Kenya, made it clear that it is critically important that interviewers can ask questions about sensitive topics, like the experience of men who have sex with men, and have a good understanding of what a human rights violation is.

Ubunti Bentu addresses HIV, Sexuality and Gender Based Violence

On the 26 and 27 August 2011, Ubuntu Bentu, the Eastern Cape civil society campaign platform, conducted the workshop for Eastern Cape Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Intersex (ECLGBTI) organisation which is the member of Ubuntu Bentu and who's chairperson is serving  on the steering committee of the campaign platform.
